A branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, they manage the emergency shelter for families and single adults in Bridgeport and provide the largest permanent supportive housing units for 400 clients each year. They provide a wide range of services and a path to a better life for those experiencing homelessness.
Serving all of Connecticut and being a member of the national Feeding America network, Connecticut Foodshare is committed to creating long-term solutions to food insecurity. Connecticut Foodshare is powered by 4,000 volunteers and has a network of 650 community-based hunger relief programs-including food pantries, community kitchens, and emergency shelters.
Founded in 1987 by John and Jane Ellis, the Connecticut Cancer Foundation funds cancer research and financially assists Connecticut cancer patients and their families with daily living expenses. They believe no cancer patient should have to worry about a roof overhead or their next meal while battling cancer.
PHF Connecticut provides support to families and children affected by this incurable brain condition. Directors Tim and Cindy Shanely created and awarded the Regan Sloane Shanley Scholarship, named after their daughter, Reagan, who was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at 9 months old and had two brain surgeries before reaching 18 months old.
Through robotics, their students learn teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, engineering, computer programming, and design. Masuk Robotics has qualified and sent teams to VEX World Competitions each year since the 2012–2013 season.
This charity was created to find a cure for a pediatric inoperable brain tumor known as DIPG. Danni Kemp, a Milford native and Division I softball player, was diagnosed with DIPG in 2016 and always remained a fighter in her battle against this disease. Support the fund in their mission to ensure no other parents need to hear about this diagnosis.
Make-A-Wish Connecticut grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses throughout the state of Connecticut.
The mission of Sun, Moon & Stars is to provide families with children on the autism spectrum with opportunities to participate in activities, events, and programs while building a strong community within Greater Watertown and surrounding areas.
