New York Islanders Bring Back Gauthier, Foudy

The New York Islanders have signed forwards Julien Gauthier (left) and Liam Foudy (right) to one-year, two-way contracts for the 2025-26 season.

 

Gauthier, 27, recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in nine games with Bridgeport last season, and skated in one game for the New York Islanders. He suffered an injury on Nov. 24 against the Hartford Wolf Pack and missed the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

 

The Pointe-aux-Trembles, QC was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round (21st overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. He has 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists) in 181 career NHL games with the Islanders, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators and Hurricanes. He appeared in three Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Rangers in 2020.

 

Gauthier has 123 points (81 goals, 42 assists) in 214 career AHL games with Bridgeport, the Charlotte Checkers and Hartford Wolf Pack, and 10 points (six goals, four assists) in 25 playoff games with Charlotte. He won the 2019 Calder Cup with the Checkers.

 

Prior to his professional career, Gauthier played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Saint John Sea Dogs. On the international stage, he played for Team Canada at the 2016 and 2017 World Junior Championships.

 

Foudy, 25, scored 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists) in 70 games with Bridgeport last season. The Scarborough, ON, native ranked second on the team in goals and third in both points and assists. Foudy also made his New York Islanders debut, appearing in two NHL games during his first season with the organization.

 

The Columbus Blue Jackets selected Foudy in the first round (18th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. He’s scored 22 career points (seven goals, 15 assists) In 104 NHL games with Columbus, the Nashville Predators and Islanders. Foudy also played 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games with Columbus in 2020, scoring a goal and an assist.

 

Foudy has appeared in 139 career AHL games with Bridgeport, the Milwaukee Admirals and Cleveland Monsters, accumulating 96 points (40 goals, 56 assists). Prior to his professional career, Foudy played four seasons of junior hockey with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. On the international stage, he’s represented Canada at the 2018 Under-18 World Junior Championship, the 2020 World Junior Championship and the 2021 World Championship, winning gold in 2020 and 2021.
