Islanders Acquire Luff
Feb 24, 2026EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The New York Islanders have acquired forward Matt Luff from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Julien Gauthier.
Luff, 28, has 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 42 American Hockey League games this season to lead the Springfield Thunderbirds in scoring. The Oakville, Ontario native has also recorded one goal in five NHL appearances with the Blues this year.
A veteran of 111 career NHL games, Luff has posted 28 points (16 goals, 12 assists) and 28 penalty minutes with the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings and Blues. He’s added 251 points (101 goals, 150 assists) in 321 career AHL games with Springfield, the Charlotte Checkers, Grand Rapids Griffins, Milwaukee Admirals and Ontario Reign.
Luff played three years of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Belleville Bulls and Hamilton Bulldogs, totaling 137 points (61 goals, 76 assists) in 170 games.
