Islanders Extend Affiliation Agreement with Railers

Jun 30, 2023

The New York Islanders have announced that the club has extended its affiliation agreement with the Worcester Railers Hockey Club of the ECHL through the 2025-26 season. Worcester and the Bridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League will continue to serve as the Islanders’ primary minor-league affiliates.

"The Worcester Railers are proud to extend our longstanding affiliation with the New York Islanders for another three seasons," Railers Chief Operating Officer Michael G. Myers said. "We are eager to continue to work with their prospects within the organization and to have them play a role in the overall team success, both on the ice and in the community."

Based in Worcester, Mass., the Railers have played in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference since their inaugural season in 2017-18. Worcester set the league record for most consecutive wins to begin a season in 2022-23, winning each of their first nine games.

Worcester was previously the home to Worcester Warriors from 1954-56 in the now-defunct Eastern Hockey League, the Worcester IceCats (AHL) from 1994-2005 and the Worcester Sharks (AHL) from 2006-2015.

The Railers play their home games at the DCU Center and practice at the state-of-the-art multi-use dual rink facility, the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center, located in the heart of the Canal District in Worcester. For more information, please visit RailersHC.com.
